September 2006: Our Society participates in the commemoration ceremony for three U.S. soldiers who drowned near Weltenburg/Donau (Danube).
Amerika in Augsburg e.V. Society Chairman Mr. Georg Feuerer honors the young Americans who died during military duty in 1975. Participating were a delegation of the Tradition Society of the former 4th Royal Bavarian Chevau-léger (light cavalry) Regiment “König”, led by Mr. Martin Aigner, as well as District Magistrate Dr. Hubert Faltermeier and Kelheim’s Mayor Fritz Mathes, representing the Kelheim area. Oberstleutnant (LTC) der Reserve Toni Resch from Augsburg represented the German Bundeswehr, Sergeant First Class Roy Bowen of former USMCA Augsburg, presented the United States Flag. A trumpet solo of “Guter Kamerad”, the Free State of Bavaria anthem and the German national anthem concluded the festive hour.
