For the sixth time, Amerika in Augsburg e.V. Society organized - with the help of an official invitation of the City of Augsburg - the participation of the last U.S. unit that had served in Augsburg in the big Autumn Plärrer’s parade.
Sorry, but the 18 soldiers – male and female – of the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade from Wiesbaden were unable to reach Augsburg in time for the parade because heavy holiday traffic, accidents and ongoing construction work caused traffic jams that led to the significantly late arrival of the U.S. delegation. Therefore they could only attend the following hustle and bustle of the fair and the beer tent, which developed into a very entertaining meeting with “historical” participants of the parade and accidental guests.
The parade had to be performed by the historical “Reenactors” alone - with original vehicles and uniforms of several epochs (beginning 1944). The obligatory distribution of chewing gum was very much enjoyed by the citizens of Augsburg who were standing along the roadsides.
Led by Command Sergeant Major Scott, the American guests nevertheless could take home a positive feeling from the long time garrison city.
