Due to structural changes within the U.S. Army, it was not easy for the Amerika in Augsburg e.V. Society, to gain a delegation of the last unit that had served in Augsburg for joining the Plärrer Fair Parade also in 2009. So only six soldiers - male and female - of the 66th MI Brigade from Wiesbaden were here to pay reference to the Fuggerstadt’s citizens with a Color Guard.
The more gratifying was the fact that the delegation was lead, for the first time, with female charm by LTC*) Glenora Redford. As in former years, the American guests were joined by a number of historical U.S. vehicles as a reminiscence of the longtime presence of American troops in Augsburg to the citizens.
As part of the Bundestag election campaign, Mr. Horst Seehofer, Chief Minister of Bavaria, and Mr. Kurt Gribl, Lord Mayor of Augsburg, as well as other regional politicians visited at the beer tent where they paid attention to the U.S. soldiers after the parade.
