Plärrer Fair Parade 2008

Invited by the City of Augsburg as well as the Amerika in Augsburg Society, once again, the last U.S. Army unit to serve in Augsburg, came to join the big Plärrer Fair Parade in the Fugger City. Special inducement for the invitation of the 66th Military Intelligence Battalion from Darmstadt was the 10th anniversary of Augsburg base closure. This year again, City and Society wanted to demonstrate their bond with the U.S. Forces and their families. Twenty soldiers - male and female - led by LTC Ivory Freeman took part in a Color Guard, one of the highest honors to a host nation.

After a guided tour thru the city and a Bavarian Leberkäs´ break, the Color Guard and a presentation of historical vehicles and uniforms marched trough the heart of the City to the Plärrer fair area. In an impressive way, the "Reenactors" demonstrated the end of the war by distributing chewing gum to the kids along the roadsides.
